-- Lean Logistics – Route Design and Crossdocking 3:00 PM Tuesday, April 18th, 2006 Location: 110 Lindner Hall, College of Business, U.C. Speaker: Rajesh Radhakrishnan, Transfreight. Transfreight Interactive Route Builder (TIRB) is a software tool developed at Transfreight that helps network designers create multiple routing scenarios and then compare them to determine the best one to implement. The features of this software tool will highlight the importance of cube/weight-utilization (Trailer Load Diagram) of routes and distance/time constraints when designing a route. Crossdocking facilitates the implementation of a lean supply chain network. The operations of a crossdock and a heuristic to improve the work-efficiency of fork-lift operations will be described in the second part of this presentation. |
